Serious games

Games allow for faster learning

Because a game takes place in its own world, time can work differently there. The feedback loop becomes much smaller than in real life. By playing certain games multiple rounds in a row, participants gain the advantage of months or even years of “repeat” to learn from their actions.

A game is a safe space

Within a magic circle (the implicit agreement from all players to be “in” the game) the rules determine the roles. Developer and CTO alike find themselves on a level playing field and can interact in a way that the day-to-day does not allow.

Games are sculpted experiences

Playing a game for enjoyment is just as much an experience as playing a serious game. The difference is that the experience is evaluated and used to gain insight. Because this insight arises during an activity and from within the group of players, the lessons are more memorable - and more likely to lead to changed behavior.

No play, no gain!
